NOTICE OF CHAPTER 343, HAWAI’I REVISED STATUTE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT SCOPING MEETING & NOTICE OF CONSULTATION UNDER SECTION 106 OF THE NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT OF 1966 AS AMENDED (2006)

This notice shall satisfy two separate but related activities to be undertaken by the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL).

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT SCOPING MEETING

DHHL is pleased to invite the public to an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) scoping meeting in preparation for the re-development of 820 Isenberg Street, in Mo’ili’ili, Honolulu. The meeting will be held at Washington Middle School Cafeteria (1633 S. King Street), from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, May 9th, 2018. The purposes of the meeting are to: inform the community of the initiation of the planning process; invite community input in the preparation of an EIS consistent with Chapter 343, Hawai’i Revised Statutes and Title 11-200 of Hawai’i Administrative Rules. The property is 1.9 acres and home to the former Stadium Bowl-o-Drome building which was constructed in 1956 and operated as a bowling alley until 2004. The land was transferred to DHHL from the State Board of Land and Natural Resources in 1995.

CONSULTATION UNDER SECTION 106 OF THE NATIONAL HISTORIC
PRESERVATION ACT OF 1966 AS AMENDED (2006)

Redevelopment of 820 Isenberg Street may utilize federal funds, therefore DHHL extends the opportunity for consultation consistent with the requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106). Native Hawaiian organizations and Native Hawaiian descendants with ancestral, lineal or cultural ties to, cultural knowledge or concerns for, and cultural or religious attachment to the proposed project area are invited to attend the aforementioned meeting or to contact Ms. Nancy McPherson at Nancy.M.McPherson@hawaii.gov or PO Box 1879, Honolulu, HI 96805, by June 2, 2018.
