NOTICE TO MOTORIST

The Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Division (HDOT) and its contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. would like to notify the public that work on the following project will be done on the dates and times indicated below:

INTERSTATE ROUTE H-1, GUARDRAIL AND SHOULDER IMPROVEMENTS, KAPIOLANI INTERCHANGE TO AINAKOA AVE, PH. 2 PROJECT NO. NH-H1-1(281)

The project consists of guardrail replacement, shoulder improvements, pavement repairs, and related safety upgrades along Interstate Route H-1 between the Kapiolani Interchange (mile post 25.24) and Ainakoa Avenue (mile post 27.16). The project is scheduled to begin on September 21, 2026 and continue until July 2027. Working hours will be 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday and 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM Sunday night to Friday morning. Night work is anticipated September 21, 2026 through July 14, 2027. On the Interstate H-1 Freeway from Kapiolani Interchange to Ainakoa Avenue, the shoulder and one lane will be closed during daytime construction operations and the shoulder and one to two lanes will be closed during nighttime construction operations. Additionally, the 5th Avenue, 11th Avenue, and Waialae Avenue on-ramps, may be closed to the public to allow the Contractor to perform their work. Motorists are advised to follow all posted detour signs, barriers, and traffic control devices. Honolulu Police Officers will be posted according to approved traffic control plans to assist the Contractor in ensuring smooth traffic flow during construction operations.
