The Navy and the Environmental Protection Agency, with concurrence from the State of Hawaii Department of Health, have selected a combination of focused dredging, enhanced natural recovery, treatment with activated carbon, and monitored natural recovery as the remedy for the Site to protect public health, welfare, and the environment. This remedy was selected in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act, and, to the extent practicable, the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan and the Office of the President of the United States Executive Order 12580.
