NOTICE OF FIVE-YEAR REVIEW
AND FACT SHEET
JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR HICKAM
NATIONAL PRIORITIES LIST SITES
PUBLIC NOTICE – The United States Navy Environmental Restoration Program announces that a five-year review is being conducted for the Navy’s National Priorities List sites at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, West Loch/Waipio, and Pearl City on Oahu. Prior environmental investigations at the sites have identified chemicals of concern in site media. The Navy has implemented remedies to ensure that people and the environment are not exposed to chemicals at levels that are unsafe. The objective of the five year review is to confirm that the remedy at each site is keeping people and the environment safe from site impacts. The Navy anticipates that the five-year review will be completed by September 2024.
The review will evaluate whether response actions and final remedies for each site are performing as intended and whether the remedies continue to adequately protect people and the environment. This review will evaluate the following sites from the Navy’s National Priorities List: 1) Ford Island Landfill; 2) Building (Bldg.) 284 and Former Bldgs. 80 and 302; 3-5) Various Transformer Sites; 6) Shoreline Site Northwest of Dry Dock #3; 7) Bldg. 6; 8) 4th Street Coral Pit Landfill; 9) Former Pearl City Junction; and 10) Pearl Harbor Sediment.
To facilitate public participation, the Navy has prepared a pre-inspection fact sheet to provide further information for each site being evaluated. The fact sheet is available for public review at the Navy information repositories located at:
