PHASE 2 PROJECT

Notice is hereby given that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) propose the Height Modernization Facilities, Phase 2 Project. This federally funded State project is considered a federal action and undertaking, as defined by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended (2006). The project will install Virtual Reference Stations (VRS) on the rooftops of existing buildings at eight locations on the Island of Oahu.
The undertaking will consist of bolting an antenna dome and mount to an existing masonry building at each location. The antenna dome will extend six feet above the building rooftop. A new equipment cabinet measuring 36″x36″x18″ will be installed. Conduits will be mounted to walls and ceilings to provide electrical and telecommunication connections from existing sources to the new equipment cabinet.
The proposed area of potential effect is comprised of the eight building footprints where the VRS antenna dome and mount, equipment cabinet and conduits will be installed.
Pursuant to Section 106 of the NHPA, Native Hawaiian Organizations and Native Hawaiian descendants with ancestral, lineal/cultural ties to, cultural knowledge or concerns for, and cultural/religious attachment to the proposed project area, or other individuals and organizations with legal, economic or historic preservation interest who would like to participate in the Section 106 process for the proposed project are requested to contact Ms. Holly Yuen, via email at holly.yuen@hawaii.gov., or by U.S. Postal Service to Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Division, 601 Kamokila Blvd., Room 688, Kapolei, Hawaii 96707.
