Notice is hereby given that an unmarked site containing human remains presumed to be Native Hawaiian has been identified on land owned by Pu’uone Kau Hale, LLC in Wailuku Ahupua’a, Wailuku District (traditionally known as Pu’ali Komohana Moku), Island of Maui, Hawai’i [TMK: (2) 38-037:047]. Burial sites were located in the central portion of Parcel 047. Parcel 047 is located within LCA 420 under Patent Grant #1996, which was awarded to Kuihelani in 1855.

The landowner proposes to preserve the burials in place. Interested persons please respond within 30 days of this notice to discuss appropriate treatment of the remains. Anyone who may have information about this significant site are requested to contact Andrew Phillips, SHPD-Maui Burial Sites Specialist at (808) 243-4641.
