Dowsett Highlands relief
Sewer Nuuanu Ave & Pali Hwy
The Dowsett Highlands Relief Sewer Projects, Nuuanu Avenue
(School St. to Wyllie St.) & Pali Highway (Wyllie St. to Nuuanu Pali Dr.)
and Dowsett Ave., Job Nos. W5-17 and W6-17, respectively, will commence
in September 2018; with a substantial completion date of June
7, 2020. However, various construction closeout activities may continue
for several months after substantial completion. The owner is the City &
County of Honolulu: Department of Environmental Services, Wastewater
Engineering and Construction. This project involves construction of
more than 3 miles of new gravity sewers and 88 sewer manholes along
Nuuanu Avenue, Wyllie Street, Pali Highway, Dowsett Avenue, and several
side streets (see project map). The method of installation will be a
combination of both open trench installation and guided bore methods.
The project will also include relocation of utilities, installation of temporary
bypass systems and various other site work and restorations.
Due to the aggressive schedule, construction crews will need to work
at many concurrent locations and at times may need to work weekends
and holidays, including nights in some locations. Motorists are advised
to use alternate routes because there will be lane closures and detours
throughout the project. Updates and more detailed information
including traffic control plans will be provided on the project website:
www.palisewer.org. Or if you have any questions or concerns, please
contact the hotline number at 808-793-7184.
