PUBLIC NOTICE Consultation for Section 106, National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Notice is hereby given that the Federal Highway Administration and State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation Highways Division, propose a project to construct the Leeward Bikeway (Bikeway), from Philippine Sea Road to Waipahu Depot Street in the Honouliuli Ahupuaa, Ewa District, Island of Oahu, Hawaii. The proposed 8-10 foot-wide asphalt concrete Bikeway would be built within the 40-foot wide former Oahu Railway & Land Company right-of-way and provide a dedicated, shared use path for pedestrians and bicyclists. The Bikeway would consist of two sections connected by the existing approximately two-mile West Loch Bike Path on either end to form a continuous path. The first section of the bikeway would begin at Philippine Sea Road and extend approximately 10,500 feet east to connect with the southwest end of the West Loch Bike Path. The second section of the bikeway would begin at the northeast end of the West Loch Bike Path and extend approximately 6,900 feet east to its terminus at Waipahu Depot Street. All persons having information about significant archaeological or cultural resources and sites relating to Section 106, NHPA, within the proposed project extents, are asked to submit written information to Mr. Robert Sun by U. S. Postal Service to the Design Branch, Hawaii Department of Transportation, 601 Kamokila Boulevard, Room 609, Kapolei, HI, 96707. Written information must be received no later than 01/04/17. Otherwise, a Section 106 consultation meeting is scheduled for December 20, 2017 at 1:30PM.
