GEORGE ISAO HIEDA Age 90, of Honolulu, passed away surrounded by his family on April 30, 2018, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. He was born in a leap year on March 1, 1928, in Sprecklesville, Maui. He graduated from Baldwin High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Thereafter he attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. George began his legal career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the City and County of Honolulu, worked briefly at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, and retired as a Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City and County of Honolulu, Chief of Land Acquisition. After retirement he continued to do legal work, helping many of his friends and family establish their wills and trusts. A devoted and loving husband and father, George is survived by the love of his life, his wife Dorothy whom he was married to for 63 years; his son Gerald; daughters Pauline (Larry) Nomura and Janey (Glen) Lindbo; sister Helen (Michael) Morisaki; and by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. George enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing with his wife Dorothy, and was an avid University of Hawaii sports fan attending games and holding season tickets to UH football, baseball, and men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball programs for over 50 years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and attending and videotaping his grandchildren’s dance performances, basketball games, and various school and sporting events. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, friendly personality, quick wit, integrity, great sense of humor, and his bright, infectious smile.
