ROGER PAUL COUTURE Passed away on August 27, 2017 at 11:27 am from the effects of prostate cancer. He thankfully joined Islands Hospice on January 20, 2017. Born in Berlin, N.H. on December 16, 1937, he lived an adventurous childhood with a focus on fishing, boating, nature and sports. In 1957, he joined the Air Force, which took him to Madison, WI, where he married Mary Kouba who bore him two children, Cathy and Norman. After military service, he worked for Oscar Mayer as an industrial mechanic for 35 years. Joining AA in Madison in 1976 led to much love and support both in Madison and in Hawaii. He left Madison in 1999 when both he and his current wife, Darlene Weingand, moved to Honolulu, HI. He enjoyed 14 years as a Docent at both the Honolulu Museum of Arts and 15 years at the Honolulu Zoo mainly within the African Savanna area. He became a member of the Waikiki Elks Lodge in 2012. Roger and Darlene had the opportunity to travel extensively while working as well as in retirement. Cruising became a preferred way to see the world. Roger leaves behind a loving wife and a blended family of six children, ten grandchildren and three great-grand-children as a legacy for the future. Roger was a member of the University of Hawaii Willed Body Program. A Requiem Mass will be said at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Kapahulu in Waikiki on Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 am. The Rosary will precede the mass at 9:30 am.
