A burial site containing fragmentary human skeletal remains was identified by Atlas Archaeology, LLC, during an archaeological inventory survey for the Bumatay Trust residential dwelling project at 448 N. Wakea Avenue, Kahului Ahupua’a, Wailuku District, Maui Island, TMK: (2) 3-8-025:057. The project area is located within Land Commission Award No. 420 to Kuihelani. Other names of those possibly associated with the burial site are unknown.

The remains are presumed to be over 50 years old and Native Hawaiian. This is considered a previously identified burial pursuant to HRS § 6E-43 and HAR § 13-300. The decision to preserve in place or relocate and appropriate treatment shall be made in accordance therewith.
