SR. ANNE-MARIE TAMANAHA Sr. Anne-Marie Tamanaha, SS.CC., a Sister of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 just 9 days short of her 87th birthday. Sr. Anne-Marie was born in Makawao, Maui, on October 29, 1930 to Thomas Yama and Cathryn Maria Tamanaha. Sister was the eldest of 4 children, her two brothers and a sister all predeceased her. On Maui, Sr. Anne-Marie attended Waihee Elementary School and then graduated from Baldwin High. Sister entered the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in 1951, and went on to earn her B.S. in education from University of Dayton, her MA in Education Administration from the University of Hawaii. In her 64 years as a Sister of the Sacred Hearts, Sr. Anne-Marie taught at Sacred Hearts Academy from 1952 to 2011 teaching Religion and also giving private music lessons. She also served as Principal of Sacred Hearts Elementary School from 1963-1980. From 2011- 2016, she taught piano to students at St. Patrick School. Besides her teaching career, Sr. Anne-Marie found her greatest joy in directing the Associates of the Sacred Hearts. The second Sunday of every month she met with these men and women to pray for the needs of the Church and the world and she also held fundraisers to assist our missionaries in the Philippines, India, Indonesia and Tonga. She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES FOR SR. ANNE- MARIE, WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2017 AT ST. PATRICK CHURCH.
