WILLIAM (BILL) HANOHANO JR. 72, of Kaneohe, passed away, Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was a resident of Burnsville, Minnesota. Interment at Hawaii State Veteran’s Cemetery, Kaneohe. Bill was born October 8, 1944, in Honolulu, to William and Helen (Hulama Makahalupa) Hanohano. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 1963. He obtained a degree from Utah State and joined the army as an officer in the Preventive Medicine division. Bill served 20 years in Korea, Germany, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Panama. He retired as a Major and returned to Hawaii. He worked at St. Francis Medical Center and later volunteered at Castle Medical Center and Bishop Museum before moving to Minnesota in 2014. He married Myong Cha Yi (Lee Hanohano) in Korea. They were married for 33 years, until her passing in 2002. He is survived by three children, Helen McNeil, Harry Hanohano and Michele Carulli; seven grandchildren: Ian Hanohano, Michaela Kalama, Rhys Kalama, Devyn Kalama, Skye McNeil, India McNeil and Chase Carulli. Also survived by his mother, Helen Hanohano and sister, Maggie Hanohano.
