Notice is hereby given that a single, in situ burial site and two small fragments were identified by Scientific Consultant Services, Inc. (SCS) during archaeological inventory survey for a residential project. The project occurred at Lot 1, a 2.3 acre parcel in Kapalua, Honokahua Ahupua’a, Ka’anapali District, Island of Maui TMK: (2) 4-2-004:001. The two locations have been given the following SIHP Numbers: 50-50-01-09162 and 50-50-01-09163. The remains are presumed to be over 50 years old and Traditional Native Hawaiian. They are considered as previously identified burials pursuant to HRS 6E-43 and HAR 13-300. Recommended mitigation is to preserve the single burial in place, along with the two small bone fragments recovered from a fill layer c. 50 meters to the east.

Any interested persons are requested to please respond within 30 days of his notice to discuss appropriate treatment of these remains. Individuals responding must be able to adequately demonstrate lineal and/or cultural connection to the burials on the above referenced parcel Contact: Andrew K.
