75 years of age, passed away peacefully in Torrance CA on July 20, 2024. Born in Honolulu, he was raised in Kailua, always a Kailua Boy at heart. Attended St. Anthony of Padua Grade School & in 1966 he was part of the first graduating class of Damien Memorial High School. In 1970 Steven received a B.S. in Business and a Minor in Political Science from Chaminade University of Honolulu. He interned as a clerk for Hopaco Stationery and worked his way up to Merchandising Manager and Buyer for their Ala Moana Center Retail store. He was active in the Kailua Jaycees from 1972 to 1980. In 1974 Steven was one of 17 men in Hawaii selected as Outstanding Young Men for 1974 by a National Award Publication for his civic and business accomplishments. In 1980, he moved to Los Angeles and began a successful career in the airfreight business, working in operations & sales, which he loved for 25 years. He was a Redondo Beach Resident for over 44 years, always flying home for the holidays & special occasions to be with the family, and many big family Las Vegas Reunions. How Steven loved his family, friends and co-workers, sharing his love, compassion, sense of humor, Spirit of Aloha and putting others first. The past 20 years of his life, Steven was challenged with health issues. But through it all, he maintained a positive attitude of gratitude, had his Faith, always praying for others, being an inspiring and joyful influence. He was a beloved son to Margaret and David Capello (Deceased), Brother of Suzanne, Katie, Cynthia, Richard, Bruce & Len. Beloved Uncle, Godfather, Nephew, Cousin, Friend, Boss and Co-worker. Steven had a beautiful Celebration of Life Mass at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach, CA for dear Mainland family and friends on 8/22/24. He had a wonderful caregiver Billy, an amazing nephrologist and health care team. We are forever indebted to their love and care of him.
