Helen Kawahara was a loving Mother, Nana and caring Friend. Sadly, our beloved Mom & Nana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 13, 2025, she was 94. Helen was born in Honolulu, HI on August 3, 1930. Together with her Husband George, they were the owners of Waimanu Grill in Kakaako from 1958 until their retirement in 1995. Waimanu Grill was a landmark coffee shop for many years, where many gathered for breakfast and lunch. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Awong (Arnold), Leiko Kobayashi, Gwen James (Patrick), 6 grandchildren, Kiana, Kanani, Kaui, Jennifer, Blaine & Mahina, 9 great-grandchildren, and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
