JANICE RUSH WELSH

Janice Rush Welsh, a devoted wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at age 85. A Punahou School graduate (Class of 1956) and University of Colorado alumna, Janice dedicated her career to elementary education, beginning as a kindergarten teacher at Blanche Pope Elementary in Waimanalo, later teaching at Maunawili Elementary, and eventually becoming a beloved third-grade teacher at Kula Elementary School. Janice’s passions and pastimes included tending her garden, rescuing baby birds, following current events, and enjoying "wine time" with her husband of 52 years, David W. Welsh. One of her proudest achievements was building and managing a commercial protea farm in Kula, Maui. A vibrant presence, Janice loved book clubs, playing bridge, and staying connected with friends and family near and far. She is survived by her husband, David, her daughter Katie Welsh (Dario Carillo), her son Sam Perry (Marianna Stark), and her grand- daughter Tay Stark Perry. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 4, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Aloha Garden in The Island at Maui Lani, Kahului.
