FRANCIS ALVIN YOUNG

Francis Alvin Young, 85, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 in his home town of Honolulu, HI. He was born to John Au Young and Mildred Tsunoda Young and raised in Kalihi-Palama on Oahu. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Ululani Townsend Young and daughters Vanessa Rau (Jaime) and Kimberly Young of Las Vegas, NV; Lia (Ian) Hunt of Honolulu, HI; sisters Rona Sakamaki, Leinette Shiraki and brother Steven (Cara) Young; many grandchildren, great-grand- children, nieces, nephews and extended family. He is a graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of ’57 and Golden State University in San Francisco. He is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he competed on the USAF volleyball squad. He is the former owner of Goldwings Supply Service, Inc. and spent decades on the south ramp of Honolulu International Airport. He loved volleyball, basketball, the 49ers, golf, and watching old westerns on tv. He spent many years giving back to the community through coaching and mentoring volleyball players. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grand- children in Las Vegas and Honolulu. Services will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Cemetery in Kaneohe, HI on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m. celebration of life begins at 10:00 a.m. and military burial at 1:00 p.m. on site.
