ANNIE SUMIE "SUMI" SHIMABUKURO 96, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Kalakaua Gardens. Annie was born in Amauulu Camp 4, Hilo, Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents Matsu and Matsu Higa, siblings George Sanjiro Higa (Kikue), Fumiko Yoshimoto (Brian), Robert Higa (Yoshiko), and Pat Sueko Shiroma (Thomas) as well as her husband, Samson Shimabukuro and sons Jay Shimabukuro, and Wes Shimabukuro. She is survived by her daughter Jill Sugihara (Gary), and grandchildren: Joy Shimabukuro, Ricky Shimabukuro (Kristy Graversen) and Daniel Sugihara, as well as many nieces and nephews. Annie is a 1946 graduate of Farrington High School and retired from The Gas Company. She was a member of the Gushikawa Shijin Kai, Jikoen Fujinkai, Amauulu Club, and Hui O Laulima. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, followed by service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Aloha Attire. Inurnment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Oahu Cemetery.
