Honolulu – Rudolph "Rudy" Hudson McIntyre passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 95 on April 2, 2024, at his home after a brief illness. He was born on December 26, 1928, in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Ernest S. and Charlotte A. McIntyre. He was the second youngest of eleven children. Rudy was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. His dedication and service to his country were unwavering. Rudy was the beloved husband of the late Rose Blaney who he cherished and Lois Barnes, with who he had two daughters Tanya Eley-McIntyre and Kim Pierce. A distinguished salesman and lighting consultant, Rudy’s career was marked by professionalism and expertise. He excelled in his field and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Rudy was involved and volunteered in numerous organizations and was really proud of his work on the Board of Governors for Shriners Hospital. He was a member and extremely active in various organizations, including Knights of Pythias – Mystic Lodge No.2, Lodge le Progres de I’OCEANIE, F&AM, Royal Order of Jesters- Aloha Court #1, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Honolulu, where he was a 33rd degree mason, and Shriners-Aloha Temple. His involvement in these groups brought him joy and fulfillment. Rudy leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Tanya Eley-McIntyre of Atlanta, Georgia and Kim Pierce of Waterbury, Connecticut, granddaughters Shanae McIntyre and Aja Eley, great granddaughter Tahia Rhinehart, great nephew, the Honorable Michael L Ferguson of Meriden CT, who was like his son, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest McIntyre, mother, Charlotte McIntyre, spouse, Rose Blaney, Lois Barnes, brothers Burpee, Elden, Sydney, Dewey, Wallace, and sisters Amasa, Emma, Winifred, Josephine, and Georgie. Rudy’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of honor, hard work, brotherly love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Igawa-Silva, nurses, specifically, Yvonne Lai, Joan Eula Conde, APRN, Agnes (VA Hospice), Always Best Care, St. Francis Hospice, Maria Medina – Straub Hospital social worker, Meals on Wheels, Kim – Ho’Okele Home Care, Miki Ho – O’ahu Mortuary, Dino Montalbo, Rose Ho and a huge thank you to all those who helped care for him so he could remain home during his last several months: Patricia Beaver, Zoraida L. Ferguson, Diania L. Ferguson, Donald G. Taylor, and Clinton N. Parker. Please join our family to honor Rudy with a Celebration of His Life on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 6:00pm at Makiki Masonic Temple, 1227 Makiki Street, Honolulu, HI, food to follow.
