CATHERINE E. DAVIS
89, of Waikiki, passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side on February 19, 2023. She was born in Wenatchee, Washington, on December 12, 1933, to parents Harvey and Polly Davis.
After graduating from Wenatchee High School, in Washington State, she received her undergraduate degree in Speech Therapy from the University of Washington. At the UW, she was President of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. Ms. Davis volunteered for thousands of hours in the Radiology Department at Stevens Hospital in Lynnwood, Washington, and was a prolific blood donor. She returned to school in the 1970’s and attained a Juris Doctor from the University of Puget Sound Law School. Following a period in private practice, she was appointed the first female judge in Snohomish County, Washington.
After moving to Hawaii in 1985, she took the position of Patient Rights Advocate at the State Hospital in Kaneohe, where she worked for 25 years before retiring. She had a lifelong love of Hawaiian music, and the Hawaiian language and people, and enjoyed singing and playing the piano publicly for years.
Ms. Davis is survived by her two children, Anne, of Bothell, Washington, and Chris, of Pacifica, California. She had five Grandchildren, Sara, Samantha, Christopher, Gabriel, and Sabrina; and six Great-grandchildren, Logan, Owen, Travis, Eva, Leo, and Jason. Her ashes were scattered in the ocean from an outrigger off Waikiki Beach, near the Elks Club, as she wished. She will be missed. |
