THERESA BERNADETTE KIUM NGIT CHING 89, of Kalihi, passed away on April 27th, 2023. Born on March 30, 1934, to Frances Yin Lan and Francis Tai Kan Ching, she was the youngest of 9 children. Theresa graduated from St. Francis School then traveled by ship and train with her twin sister Thelma, to study on the East Coast. She graduated from the St. James Hospital Nursing School in Newark, New Jersey and returned to Hawaii where she worked as a Registered Nurse at Queen’s Hospital and retired after 34 years of dedicated service. She was an avid follower of the LA Dodgers and LA Lakers and enjoyed family trips to Asia. We all know that her favorite travel destination was the Las Vegas and Reno/San Francisco combination. Theresa was predeceased by her beloved siblings Elsie (Ching), Thomas, Nancy (Jung), Clarence, Albert, Beatrice (Chee), Lillian (Chinn), and Thelma (Chang). Theresa is survived by her sister-in-law, Wilma Ching, brothers- in-law, James T. Chinn and Jerry Chang, and many loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Theresa’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel. Visitation at 10:00 am and services at 10:30 am. Inurnment to follow at 1:00 pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. With deep appreciation, the family would like to thank St. Francis Hospice, Bristol Hospice and her caregivers Helen, Betty, Fay, and Bert. She felt safe, cared for and was happy to stay with you until the end.
