Annabelle Kaomealani Ching of Hawaii Kai & Kaimuki passed peacefully at home on 2/28/2023. She was born in Honolulu to Douglas Ah Wing Kai of Waiohinu, Hawaii and Rachel Kananimaiole King of Waimea, Hawaii on 11/27/1931. She attended Liholiho El, Kaimuki Intermediate & High School, class of 1950, where she proudly sang to her Bulldog’s athletes as a school song leader. Annabelle married Lt John YS Ching of Kalihi & Wailuku, Maui and instantly became a devoted & dedicated Military wife that much was expected of. Within 10 years the young couple moved to 6 military posts across the continent and had 6 children while Annabelle willingly shared her island ways & the aloha spirit and loyally served her husband, family & country. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Hawaiian Airlines as a stewardess and upon returning to the islands she became a Tour Escort for Unitours, a job that she enjoyed with her natural social skills and local ways. She loved her island home & all who became a part of her life’s journey. Annabelle was easy to love and connect with and invited everyone into her circle, truly an island girl.
