PEARL TSURUYO KATSUKI Pearl Tsuruyo Katsuki, age 99, of Honolulu, passed away quietly Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at her residence. Pearl Tsuruyo Katsuki was born February 21, 1923 in Hanalei, Kauai. She worked at the very first supermarket in Hawaii – Kapiolani Supermarket. She went on to own and run a mini-mart in Waikiki, King Minut Mart, from 1960 to 1999. In her retirement she enjoyed arts, crafts and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many friends. She was preceded in her passing by her husband, Masao Katsuki and her two brothers Kenneth and Malcolm Katayama. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Nakano-Yamada (husband Robert); three grandchildren, Keith Nakano (wife Stacy), Jana Lynn Fu (husband Derrick), and Jaime Tamayei (husband Drake); eight great-grandchildren, Chaz Tamayei (wife Corinne), Trey Tamayei, Jace Tamayei, Kelci Nakano, Kadon Nakano, Kayci Nakano, Carson Fu, and Jaynie Fu. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. Her services were held in a private funeral at Hosoi Mortuary on March 6, 2023.
