KEITH KULA KAUWE, SR. Keith Kula Kauwe, Sr., of Waimanalo passed away on April 4, 2023 at the age of 78. Kula was born in Honolulu, Hawai’i on July 22, 1944 to Albert Kuka’ilani Kauwe Jr. and Alexandrina Kauipuaahiahi Akau. He graduated from Kaimuki High School and served in the Navy where he was later honorably discharged. Kula was a longtime firefighter, who served in his hometown of Waimanalo for 25 years. He married his childhood sweetheart, Winona "Bootsie" Bruhn on October 29, 1966. Kula was a devoted father and avid fisherman, well-known throughout Waimanalo for his work ethic and unforgettable personality. He regularly attended and volunteered at St. George Catholic Church. Kula is survived by his loving wife, Winona "Bootsie" Kauwe; his children Keith "Jake" Kauwe Jr (Kenda), Kelcie Maka’ike (Eric), Keala IIi (Russell), and Kauluokala Kauwe (Clarisse); nineteen grandchildren; and siblings Albert Kauwe, Alexandrina Kamanu, Barbara Wilson, Beverly Ann Lau, Maile Gonsalves, and Norman Lani Kauwe. Services to be held at St. George Church in Waimanalo on June 13, 2023. Visitation from 9:00am to 10:45am; mass to follow at 11:00am.
