CLIFFORD K. KANEAIAKALA, SR.

Clifford Kalani Kaneaiakala, Sr, 82, of Waimanalo, O’ahu, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2023, surrounded by his ‘ohana.
He was the son of Iokepa and Alice Kaneaiakala and was the fourth
of 10 children. He was a proud graduate of the Kamehameha School for Boys, Class of 1959, and an avid athlete and later coach for generations to come. He loved the Lord and was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After graduating from Kamehameha, he attended Church College of Hawai’i, now known as BYU-Hawai’i, for two years. Dad joined the Honolulu Police Department on November 2, 1964, retiring in 1994, after serving 30 years. He loved riding motorcycles and was a gifted musician. He was one of the original founders of The Maka’i’s, the musical group of the Honolulu Police Department, as well as establishing the Hui Maka’i, a motorcycle group of active/retired policemen.
Cliff met and married his high school sweetheart, Jill Kanoelani Kina’u (Awai) Kaneaiakala. They recently celebrated 61 years of
marriage. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Nanealani Kaneaiakala-Awong (Elgin), Cory Kaleolani Kaneaiakala (Sherron, dec), Chad “Futa” Kaleiokalani Kaneaiakala (Shawna), and Jodi Kanoelani Kaneaiakala-Shim (Jacob); 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers Wayne Kawehi Kaneaiakala (Diana) and Greg Kahale Kaneaiakala; sisters Paula Kehaulani Kaneaiakala-Lee (Jazz) and Jo Ann Mahealani Kaea (Joseph, dec).
He was predeceased by his eldest son, Clifford Kalani Kaneaiakala, Jr. (Tammy).
His Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023. Visitation: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; Services: 12:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keolu Hills Chapel, 1461 Kanapu’u Drive, Kailua. Burial/Dedication of Grave: 2:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery, Mount Calvary.
