WILLIAM D. KANEKO

William Dean Kaneko, 72 was born on October 12, 1950, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at the Tripler CLC on March 12, 2023.
Dean was born in Kalihi and grew up in Aiea. He graduated from Aiea High School in 1968 and attended the University of Hawaii Hilo for a year. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked in aircraft maintenance. He served for 10 years, and was stationed in Korea during the Korean war, then later moved to the States. Dean had a love for music & food. He worked at Aikane Catamarans as a bus driver, in the catering department, and played
music onboard the dinner Cruises. With his knowledge of procurement, he got a job at Hawaiian Airlines working in supply.
Dean’s love for food, made his dream come true when he opened his own Sports Bar called "Big D’s". Later he opened his own restaurant and catering business at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel.
He is survived by daughters Allyson (Melcar) Condes and Traci Kaneko; mother Elizabeth Perreira; sister Cheryl (Phil) Scellato; brother Kevin Kaneko.
Join us for a Celebration of Life at the Mililani Mortuary, Makai Chapel on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Visitation: 9:30 a.m.; Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. followed by Lunch. Burial: 1:00 p.m.
