LOREN WILLIAM KROENKE Loren Kroenke was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1938 and passed away after an extended illness in May 2023. Loren received his undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He received a Ph.D. at the University of Hawaii at Manoa majoring in Geophysics. He joined the research staff at the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics, now SOEST, at the University of Hawaii. Loren also spent several years with the United Nations developing a program for offshore prospecting for numerous South Pacific Nations. Loren continued to carry out extensive research throughout the Pacific. In 2009 he was appointed Professor Emeritus at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. For many years Loren lived at Palihua, high on the western mountains of Oahu. For the last several years of his life, Loren lived at Pohai Nani in Kaneohe, Oahu. He is survived by his nephew Mark (Roberta) and his niece Jodi (Jim), and five grandnieces; Hannah, Ashley (Sam), Piper, Sidney, and Haylie.
