HOWARD ETSUO NOMURA Howard Etsuo Nomura passed away peacefully at the age of 95, on Febuary 24, 2022. He was born on July 3, 1926 in Lahaina, Maui and was raised in Pu’ukoli’i Camp. He first attended Lahainaluna High School and subsequently transferred to Farrington High School on the island of Oahu where he graduated in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Tokyo, Japan; where he met the love of his life, Miyoko (Fujii). They married in 1950 and had five children. He retired as a Budget Analyst from the U.S. Department of Defense, Hickam Air Force Base. However, after retirement, he continued his passion for baseball by working as a baseball/softball umpire until the age of 87. He was pre-deceased by his wife Miyoko, and his daughter Coleen (Maeda). He is survived by his daughter Marilyn; son Larry (Pauline); daughter Betty (Jim) Scott; son Ronald (Reiko); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Private services were held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, followed by his inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), where Howard is now together forever with his beloved wife Miyoko.
