USEPA Approves Hawaii’s Underground
Storage Tank Program
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is authorizing Hawaii’s Underground Storage Tank (UST) program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Hawaii updated their UST regulations in 2018 to be equivalent to and no less stringent than the federal UST regulations. Hawaii revised its regulations in response to EPA’s update of the federal UST regulations in 2015. EPA published a proposal to approve Hawaii’s UST program on August 14, 2020 and accepted public comments through September 13, 2020.
