90, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Queen’s Medical Center Punchbowl on September 24, 2021. She was born on September 18, 1931, to Peregrino and Generosa Nacino Abiva in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.

Marcela met her love of her life, Fermin Bonilla Baguio when she was just 14 and he was 21. They married on December 12, 1949. Fermin left the Philippines bound for Hawaii, hoping to make a better life for his wife and daughter. Marcela and their daughter, Imelda left the Philippines on June 15, 1959, to join her husband at Waialua, Hawaii. In 1964, the family moved to Honolulu. By this time, there were three more daughters, and two boys were born in the next years.

Marcela enjoyed cooking delicious Filipino foods for family and friends and talking on the phone to catch up on the latest news. Marcela also enjoyed traveling. She and Fermin would look forward to their trips to the Philippines and Las Vegas. She took care of the family while her husband worked at various construction sites on Oahu and other islands in the Pacific. Although, she was a homemaker, Marcela was very enterprising and helped to supplement the family income by being a landlady, baby sat numerous babies, sewing, and making dried fish and Filipino sausages to sell.

Marcela was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She is survived by her husband Fermin Sr., Daughters, Imelda (Alfredo) Gonzales, Clarissa (Larry) Duclayan, Juliet (Gary) Hiraga, and Rosalina (Michael) Armstrong; Sons, Larry and Fermin Jr. (Noreen Pasatiempo). Grandchildren: Coty (Michelle) Gonzales, Caryn (Brice) Dwiggins, Sean and Anja Duclayan, David Hiraga, Michael (Pualani) Armstrong Jr., Joshua (Rae) Armstrong, Megan (Grant) Demesillo, Jeremy (Brittany) Armstrong, Jordan, Jacob, Jace and Shelby Baguio and 12 Great-Grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sister, Ignacia Domingo Abiva Miguel and brothers, Francisco Domingo Abiva, Florencio Domingo Abiva and Raymundo Nacino Abiva.

Wake services will be held on Friday, November 12, visitation from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, services to follow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 9:00 am. Burial to follow at 12 Noon. Services will be at the Valley of the Temples (Main Chapel), 47-200 Kahekili Highway. In keeping with the Governor and Mayors’ current emergency order, attendees will need to wear a facemask and proper social distancing of 6 feet must be maintained.
