97, passed away on August 16, 2021 at her 15 Craigside residence in Honolulu. She is survived by Kazuo Asato, her husband of over fifty years.

Nancy was born on November 2, 1923 to Kame Uehara and Moushi Uehara (Namihira) in Hilo, Hawaii and was the fifth of seven siblings. She moved to Honolulu along with other family members in the postwar years. She graduated from Hilo High School and attended classes at Honolulu Business College. She was a long time resident of Kukui Plaza prior to her move to 15 Craigside.

As a long time employee of the City and County of Honolulu, Nancy had many interesting jobs in her secretarial career including positions with the Honolulu Zoo and the Honolulu Fire Department, where she was known to be the first woman employee of the Department. She retired from the Board of Water Supply after many years as an executive secretary.

Nancy enjoyed an active life, participating in many different social and recreational activities, and was a frequent traveler. As a people-oriented person, Nancy greatly enjoyed the company of others and having conversations on a range of topics. She had a lifelong curiosity and interest in learning or trying new things and was an early advocate of a healthy lifestyle.

Nancy was a devout Catholic, regularly attending Sunday services at the Sacred Heart Church and later the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in downtown Honolulu.

Although Nancy had no children, she is fondly remembered as "Aunty Sue" to her many nieces and nephews and their families. She was keenly interested in the lives and well being of her extended family and enjoyed the visits and outings with family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff of 15 Craigside for their loving care and support. Private services are being arranged.
