Sandra Miano (Belinsky), 83, passed peacefully on June 15th, 2021 following a brief illness. She was born on July 24, 1937 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of Joseph and Jean (Drucker) Belinsky, both deceased. She grew up in Brookline, MA, and later moved to Brockton, MA with her first husband, Lawrence Goulding, by whom she had two sons. Following a divorce, she met and married Richard J. Miano, the true love of her life. He brought his own three children to the marriage who she loved and cherished as her own. In April 1978 the family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where she lived the remaining 43 years of her life.
As she and her husband worked to establish a life in Hawaii, she grew to love the state, its people, and the culture of the islands. Sandra always had a strong business mind, her and her husband undertook many successful business ventures, with the most well-known being the Country Western Bar and Nightclub Nashville Waikiki, which was located for many years in the Ohana Waikiki West Hotel, later moving to the Aloha Tower Marketplace. One of the few country western bars on Oahu, it was a concept conceived by Sandra who continued to promote and manage the business for close to 25 years. A large part of its success was owed to the always friendly and caring attitude she showed to customers and employees while working there. Throughout the years, her main focus remained always on her family, which has grown to include nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, to whom she has always shown great generosity and love.
Sandra also had a wide range of outside interests. She loved following politics and discussing the issues of the day, a habit she developed from long talks with her own father. She also liked card games of all types, and once played in The World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, while more recently taking up duplicate bridge, a game providing her many hours of enjoyment. Her most beloved pastime though was playing golf. Over the years she played all across the islands of Hawaii before discovering her favorite course, Royal Kunia, where she played as often as she could, including a final 12 holes just a few days prior to falling ill.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Richard J. Miano Sr, her children Richard Goulding and his wife Kathryn of Knoxville, TN, Steven P. Goulding and his wife Claire of Groton, MA, Karen Miano of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Richard J. Miano Jr. and his wife Lori of Honolulu, Hawaii as well as 9 grandchildren Ben Goulding, Shelby Lee, Matthew Goulding, Jennifer Goulding, Ella Goulding, Kupaa Miano, Alexsandra Huntimer, Alexis Huntimer, Siena Miano and her great grand-child Brody Lee.
She also leaves her brother Robert Belinsky as well as her beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Robert A. Miano and her sister Marsha Twitchell.
Sandra will be remembered most by family and friends for her exceptional ability to love and to make those around her feel special. She was truly a very special person herself and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
There will be no visiting hours and a family service on Oahu will be held. The family asks that any donations to be made in her memory go online to Shriners Hospitals for Children: donate.lovetotherescue.org.
