Forever our angel in the outfield
Glenn B. Ah Sam, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Mililani on December 4, 2020. He was surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter, Jennifer Ah Sam; son, Glenn (Danielle) Ah Sam II; 3 grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brody & Christian and Godson, Aaron Asamura.
He was born in North Kohala, Hawaii Island to the late Joseph and Madeline Ah Sam. He was the 5th of 10 children. He graduated
from Kohala High School, Class of 1968.
Glenn served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He then worked for Pacific Marine and later entered Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a Boilermaker/Machinist. Delicacy of Glenn’s health compelled his retirement after 44 years at PHNSY on October 9, 2020.
As a supporter of youth programs dating back to the 80’s, Glenn has been a part of the Mililani Bobby Sox and COYBL baseball leagues. He has officiated in numerous community, high school and adult leagues along with managing and scheduling officials for these platforms. He has helped build the success of Hawaii’s Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken league along with the Mililani High School Softball Trojan Classic.
Glenn’s 40 plus years of dedication to youth sports hasn’t gone unnoticed. His passion and belief has always been to provide a safe environment for Hawaii’s children to develop character and sportsmanship. His continuous dedication has paid off tremendously by the steady growth of these programs.
Whether you knew him well or met him in passing, his big heart, infectious smile and the positive impact and legacy Glenn leaves behind will never be forgotten.
He is survived by brothers Al Duane and Ray Dean; sisters Charlene Caravalho and Josette Cruz; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Alexander and Ivan; sisters Geraldine Ayoso and Madeline Hayno.
The Ah Sam family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for all the support, well wishes and kind words you all have shown.
