Bob was born in San Francisco, CA on April 9, 1934, to Alfred Linczer and Mary (McPhillips) Linczer, both of whom preceded him in death. After Bob’s father returned to Hawaii, his uncle Edward McPhillips, took him under his wing and became like a second father during his most formative years.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco and attended the University of San Francisco before serving in the US Army from 1954 to 1956.
On June 8, 1957, Bob married Beverly June Allen. Soon afterward, they moved to Honolulu where Bob worked for his father in the electrical sales representative business. He later managed the Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED) operation in Honolulu for many years before moving the family to South Bend, IN in 1978 where he helped CED expand its footprint in the midwest. Bob and Bev felt the Lord calling them to join the People of Praise, an ecumenical Christian community. They made life-long friends during their seven years in South Bend before returning to Hawaii to continue pastoral work for the People of Praise in the Islands.
Bob loved the Lord and was faithful to Him in so many ways, including his daily morning prayer. He served his brothers and sisters in the People of Praise and his various parishes faithfully and with great love. After retiring, Bob and Bev enjoyed traveling the world by embarking on numerous cruises, visiting their children and grandchildren on the Mainland, and returning to South Bend to visit their closest friends.
Bob will be remembered for his hearty laugh, his booming singing voice, his love of reading, his love for watching Notre Dame football and old classic movies, and his dedication to running including completing the Honolulu Marathon in 1977.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the People of Praise, 44-591 Kaneohe Bay Dr., Kaneohe, HI 96744, or Trinity School at Greenlawn (https://trinitygreenlawn.org/giving/) in Bob’s memory. The family is so grateful to the hospice nurses who cared for Dad in his final days bringing him great comfort and peace.
