78, passed away peacefully at his Kailua home on October 12, 2019. He was born in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands, on May 7, 1941. On April,
1948, he immigrated (with family) to the United States and settled in Ogden, Utah. After graduating from Weber High School in 1959, Don joined the Marine Corps, became a member of the Marine Band and was stationed at Marine Base, Kaneohe. At Kaneohe, Don was active with the Boy Scouts program and loved the Kailua community. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1965.

After his Sociology degree he worked with the students at the Utah State Industrial School. In less than two years, Don earned a second degree in B.Sc. Computer Science from the University of Utah followed by a third degree in M.Sc. System Management from the University of Southern California.

In 1978, Don became a Quality Control Manager for HonFed’s Computer Department. In 1985, he moved to DOD Army as a systems programmer and later moved to Camp Smith as an Information Engineer Analyst and later retired in 2006. Don also worked a second job as an Associate Professor with the University of Hawaii where he taught Database Applications and later retired in 2008.

Don is survived by his wife Brenda, stepson Chad Tomiyasu, brother Robert, and sister Mirjam. He will have a private celebration of life with family and his close friends.

Don loved Kailua, walking his dogs on the beach and parks, loved to do pallet painting, woodworking, building and fixing computers, and listening to country western music. He will be remembered in our hearts and will be missed dearly.
