87, of Pearl City passed away on August 21, 2019. She was born on August 8, 1932 in Osaka, Japan. Yoko was young when she lost her mother during World War II, but she didn’t let that tragedy define her. A decade later, she met her future husband, a Marine named Bruce Jones. After they married, she immigrated to America and was proud to become a citizen several years later.

Yoko was a dedicated Marine Corps wife. She nearly single-
handedly raised their two young children in her newly-adopted country while Bruce was away serving 6 tours in Vietnam. She lived throughout the US during his military career, eventually retiring in Hawaii, where they had also lived during the early days of their marriage.

Yoko worked at Duty Free Shoppers for 20 years, eventually becoming a supervisor at the Honolulu Airport.

Family was foremost for Yoko. When her two grandsons were young, she often traveled to Chicago to help. She was happy when her daughter and son-in-law moved back to Hawaii to live with her 3 years ago. She left a legacy of caring that her family and friends will always remember.

Yoko was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, and her parents and sisters in Japan. She is survived by her children Richard (Janel) Jones, Jennifer (Paul) Jungel, and grandsons Jeremy and Patrick Wilk. Inurnment 10 am on Wednesday, October 16 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.
