Passed away in her Kailua home on June 6, 2019, just shy of her 94th birthday. Daughter of Ruth Bertelmann Rose and beloved wife of the late Kep Aluli, she was the center of her family for the last 20 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Yuklin and Alai, three grandsons, Kimo (Monica) and Kui (Chasity) McConnell and Keanu Kuna (Ana), seven great- grandchildren and her sister Cecile Wilmington. She was mother and Tutu to her descendants and mo’opuna, Aunty Gerry to her many nieces and nephews.
Raised on the slopes of Leahi, Gerry graduated from St. Andrew’s Priory and attended the University of Hawaii and University of Colorado during World War II. She is famous for her mango pies which she baked during the summer months for her offspring, cousins and friends.
