SHUNSO AOKI

89, of Honolulu, a Korean War veteran and retired Accounting Instructor at Kapiolani Community College, passed away on December 13, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Papa’aloa, Hawaii, the fifth of nine children of Kunisaburo and Hatsumi Aoki. He graduated from Laupahoehoe High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he played on the schools’ basketball teams. He was also an avid tennis player and a lifelong bowler. He is survived by his wife, Alice Sakurai, sons, Randal (Juliet) and Rodrick (Tammie) and grandsons, whom he adored, Larson and Rylen. Private services were held on February 9, 2019 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary and inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on February 11, 2019.
