HERBERT B.S. MINN Passed away on January 16, 2019, at Queens Hospital with his family present. He was born April 14, 1923 in Wahiawa, T.H. & was the last of the 7 Minn brothers, (Gilbert, Henry, Philipp, Wilbert, Albert, Robert). Pops was employed in the Insurance Industry and was a Million Dollar Round Table Life Time Member, Korean Community Leader, & Boxing Coach, & Ring Official. He was "Old school" in that he owed no debts, provided a wonderful home for his wife, Soonie & family, sent the kids to College, and most important, "made life a better place for many others". His major life was devoted to the sport of Boxing and for 83 yrs it occupied his life. Boxer – CYO; Coach – All Army Team, University of Hawaii – 2 National Golden Glove Championships, 2 National Golden Glove Champions, 6 Territorial Championships, w at least one Champion each year; Ring Official – Referee & Judge for the IBF, WBA, & WBC.; President Hawaii Amature Boxing; Chairman Hawaii State Boxing Commission; *University Of Hawaii Circle of Honor, 1999; Mckinley High School Hall of Honor. He is pre deceased by his wife, Katherine Soonie Minn and daughter-in-law Sandy Minn; Survived by sons Hubert, Keith Minn; Grandson Vail & (Michelle) Minn; Granddaughter – Shanti Minn; Great-Granddaughters – Sadie Minn, Callie Minn. Memorial service Saturday, February 24, 2019 at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary. Visitation 11am. Service at 12:30pm.
