TATSUMI "BROWN" HISATAKE
94 of Aiea, passed peacefully on October 24, 2018. He was born on April 22, 1924 in Paauhau, Hawaii, the fourth child (of nine) to Itsuo and Kimiyo Hisatake.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and after leaving, he worked as a diesel truck and heavy equipment mechanic, a service manager, and retired from the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Public Works, as an automotive and equipment superintendent in 1991. After retiring, his love for ukulele became evident, as he learned the trade of making them (over 100), and also taught adult education and senior citizen classes on how to play the instrument. He is now together again with his wife, Childori "Tootsie", who passed in 2005. He is survived by daughters Alma Hisatake and Shail Ako, son Kevin Hisatake, and grandchildren Ryken Ako (Rhiannon), Randene Itagaki (Joey) and Ambree Ako, brother Russ Hisatake, and sister Evelyn Nunley.
