GREGORY “SONNY” “POPS” HALL
We sorrowfully announce the passing of Gregory “Sonny” “Pops” Hall. He passed away at the age of 90, on Thursday, October 25, 2018, in Kaneohe. Greg was born in Honolulu on February 20, 1928, and was the only boy amongst 6 sisters. Graduated from Kaimuki HS in ’46; joined the Army; worked as a letter carrier for the Postal Service for 42 years; also a bartender in hotels and discos in Waikiki.
He loved sports, especially riding his horses, golf, running marathons and following his 3 sons in their sports while at Punahou and always wanted them to have more than he had. Though his heart was his nemesis Greg loved life to the fullest. He’d give the shirt off his back to anyone, especially family, friends and the younger generation. He was a friend to all. This is his legacy!
A friend from Seattle said, “Handsome? Oh my yes! And that smile!!" But Greg’s heart was truly the biggest thing about him.
He will remain in every heart that beat near his at any point of his amazing life.” His heart now beats as our “SPECIAL ANGEL”.
