ALVIN MINORU YASUI A loving husband, caring Dad, fun grandfather, a cool brother and uncle and a good friend, Alvin died at 82 on September 16, 2018. Although greatly missed, he leaves a treasure box of memories, and lessons in determination and courage. Alvin battled cancer for 44 years, yet lived a full life with a strong spirit and a positive attitude. Born in Nuuanu, Alvin was a graduate and proud alumni of St. Louis High School’s Class of ’54. He served in the Air Force, and loyally worked for Pan Am for 29 years. In retirement, he worked with “fun, young people” at the City & County DMV. For over 10 years, Alvin volunteered as an Assistant Coach for the Manoa “Paniolo’s” pop warner football program. He attended his grandchildren’s sports games, recitals, and school events and loved golfing with his wife, friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Jane Yasui, son Michael (Kathy) Yasui, daughter Lori Ann (Shawn) Ouchi, grandchildren Shari Lynn, Landon, Kiana and Kristyn, and brother Dr. Byron Yasui. A celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Chaminade University’s Mystical Rose Oratory. Visitation begins at 9 am; Service at 10 am, Fellowship to follow.
