WILLIAM E. SPENCER, JR.

William Edward Spencer, Jr., 77, passed away on Thursday September 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. William (Bill) was born January 18, 1941 in Honolulu, Hawaii and was a life long Hawaii resident who not only loved this state but the people and the aloha spirit. He graduated from Maryknoll high school and went on to Loyola (Marymount) University where he received a B.S. in Civil Engineering. In 1968, Bill married his wife of 50 years, Caroline Zalewski. Together they had two sons. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bill began his career as a civil engineer working with the Harbors Division of the Hawaii State Department of Transportation. He worked for multiple private firms as well as various divisions within the State of Hawaii and City and County of Honolulu government, which included his appointment as the Deputy Director and Deputy Chief Engineer of the Department of Public Works. In 1981, Bill joined R.M. Towill Corporation where he retired as the Chief Executive Officer in 2014.

He is loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Caroline Spencer; his children William Spencer (daughter-in-law Jennifer) of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Robert Spencer (daughter-in-law Myrna) of Kailua, Hawaii; his grandchildren William, Jacob, and Ashlynne; his sister Elizabeth Kilsby and brother Ernest Spencer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Spencer and Eva (Char) Spencer.
