GEORGE TIM FU
of Waialua, passed away on September 3, 2018 at age 89. George was born in Honolulu to Flora Ho Fu and George Tiu Fu on June 22, 1929. George married the love of his life Gwendolyn Kauluoa Achiu on January 6, 1951.
A proud graduate of Saint Louis High School, class of 1947, and the University of Hawaii, George had a long and accomplished career in the airline industry. At Aloha Airlines for 22 years and Hawaiian Airlines for another 18 years, he worked hard to become a Credit Manager and Assistant Controller at both companies. George was also an entrepreneur and started a janitorial business in 1950 called “The Janitorial Service and Supplies”.
George was a member, past President and past Treasurer of the Kung Sheong Doo Society, past President of Chung Shan Association of Hawaii, past President of the Kwangtun Community Honolulu Lin Yee Hui and past Vice President of the United Chinese Society. He was also the President of the Waialua Lions Club and held the position of Treasurer for 25 years. George was instrumental in establishing a scholarship fund for the Waialua Robotics Team and the Waialua Band.
George loved to “talk story” and captured everyone’s attention with colorful details about his life. He enjoyed singing and watching football on TV. His passion was the Korean Dramas. His favorite words at dinner were: “Well, I gotta go watch my Korean!” Although George grew up in Pauoa Valley, his heart will always be in Waialua, where he resided for 50 years. He loved Waialua sunsets with a glass of good wine.
He is lovingly survived by daughter Debra Fu (Gordon) Siu; grandsons: Tyler (Kyllie) Siu and Carter (Liane) Siu, and 4 great-grandchildren: Tanner (17), Trevor (15), Kelia (12) and Kanoelani (9) and brother Albert Bucky (Louise) Fu.
