IRA HEARST COEN III

August 20, 1966 – July 29, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved son, Ira Hearst Coen III. Ira, a resident of Aiea, suddenly passed away following a brief hospital stay, on Sunday, July 29th, 2018.

There are no words to express our grief…

Ira was born in Groton, Connecticut. As a child, he lived in Pearl City, Hawaii, attending local grammar and middle schools. He finished middle school and graduated high school in Petaluma, CA. Following his graduation from Casa Grande High School, he returned to Oahu and attended Leeward Community College before attending and graduating from Chico State University in Chico, CA, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in political science. Following college, he briefly lived in Poway, CA before permanently returning to the island of Oahu. Throughout his life, Ira maintained a community of close and strongly bonded, lifelong friends, including a “hanai” aunt, since his childhood days in Oahu.
Ira was employed for many years at Pacific Seafood Distribution in Honolulu and recently started employment at Whole Foods Market.
Ira is survived by father Ira Hearst Coen, Jr., of Port Angeles, WA and mother JaLing Libuda of Poway, CA.; daughters Catherine (Zach) Holsted and Hannah, granddaughter Adelaide Holsted, sisters Madilean Coen and Diana Libuda (Adam Saunders), nephew Theodore Coen, and niece Sylvia Libuda.
Ira will be interned in the State of Washington near the home of his father in Port Angeles.

~ A Celebration of Ira’s Life will take place at Kemo’o Farms Pub, Wahiawa, Hawaii, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. ~
