PATTI-SUE HEARNE PORTER She attended the University of Pennsylvania where she met the love of her life, Donald C. Porter. They married and spent most of the 66 years of their marriage in Hawai’i, her husband Donald’s home state. Patti was an active swimmer, life guard, sailor, golfer, tennis and bridge player who frequently won tournaments and races. Patti was an active volunteer teaching swimming to children with disabilities, and hosting bible and prayer gatherings at her home as a member of the Kailua Church of the Nazarene. Patti was an accomplished landscape and still life painter. Her home was beautifully decorated with carefully selected artwork and curios. Her tropical garden, orchids and fish pond were her pride and joy. At the age of 53, Patti was diagnosed with heart disease. With her husband’s support, she battled this disease successfully for over 30 years. Patti did not let her health stand in the way of having a joyful time with family and friends. Patti was preceded in death on May 4th by her son, William S. Porter. Patti is survived by her brothers, William Hearne, of Salisbury, Maryland, and Stephen Hearne of Painter, Virginia; her loving husband, Donald C. Porter; her three daughters, Lisa Kleissner of Big Sur, Margaret Peebles of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Julia Tadich of Fresno, California; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and Aka, her devoted canine companion. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. There was a celebration of life for Patti and her son, Steve, on May 15th, at the Kaneohe Bay Yacht Club, Kaneohe, Hawaii. |
