AMY EMIKO NISHIMURA It is with great sadness that the family of Amy Emiko Nishimura, daughter of Yasuteru and Naomi Nihei, announces her passing while at home on Moloka’i on Wednesday, May 30, at the age of 85 years. Amy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Carol Shimabukuro, sister Ellen "Sachi" Nihei, brother Lance Yasuteru Nihei, numerous nieces & nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Amy was born in Honolulu, but spent the last few decades of her life living on Moloka’i. She enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing cards with friends and family. But most of all, she loved playing the slot machines in Las Vegas with her daughter Carol. Amy was always the life of the party and could make everyone laugh. She had the best mango tree on Moloka’i and her pickled mango was a winner. Amy had a big heart and would do anything to help her family and friends. She also supported her community well and was very active in numerous organizations. She will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on Tuesday, July 3, at 6pm.
