Photo courtesy of Tom Graves WILLIAM YOSHITO THOMPSON 94, of Aiea, Hawaii, died on May 15, 2018. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, he attended Hilo High School and the University of Hawaii, and received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1950. He served in WWII with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and received several decorations, including a Bronze Star. His career included: 18 years with the Hawaii County Board of Water Supply, serving as Managing Director for 8 years; 7 years with the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources, serving as Deputy Director for 5 years and Chairman for 18 months; senior management positions at the Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference and at R. M. Towill Corporation. For most of his life, he was actively devoted to the 442nd RCT Veterans Club, serving as president of the club for several years. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, his children, Seth, Josh, and Andrea, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; he was predeceased by his eldest daughter, April. Services will be held Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation 9 a.m. Casual attire. Private placement of the urn was done at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
