Terri Louise Souza, age 77, passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2018 in the arms of her loving family. Terri was born in Mount Claire, CA on June 2nd 1940 to parents George and Marie Stadler. She grew up in Oakland Hills California and attended Holy Names High School. Terri graduated with honors from the University Of San Francisco School Of Nursing in 1962. After graduation, she began her nursing career at Alameda County Hospital in the acute out-patient Psychiatric facility. Terri was appointed to the advisory board at St. Mary’s hospital in San Francisco and was also a board member of the University of San Francisco School of Nursing.

Terri had a zest for traveling and had a short stint as a flight attendant. This is where she reconnected with her college sweetheart, Al Souza Jr., while he was serving as a Naval Officer at the Submarine Command Center Pearl Harbor. Their love for each other was immediate and magical and Al proposed to her soon thereafter in 1966. They were married for 51 years.

Terri was actively involved in her three son’s academic and athletic endeavors while establishing an unconditional love and affection for them.

Terri was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, and a friend to many. She had a passion for helping others while giving her time to numerous charities and volunteer work. She was a member of the Kamehameha Schools principal’s advisory board. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics and Ho’ola Na Pua. She also served on the Honolulu zoning board of appeals.

She was a proud member of WOW (Women of Waialae), serving as president, and was active in planning numerous women’s golf tournaments. She was also a member of the Olomana women’s golf group and social club.

In addition to her love for travel and volunteer work, Terri loved to cook. In November of 1975, she took 1st place in a Hawaii Chili competition. She went on to compete at a World chili cook-off in Antelope, CA where she finished 4th.

Survived by her loving husband, Alfred B. Souza Jr., well-known local athlete and successful businessman, three Sons Alfred III (Bernadette), David and Steven; three grand-children Alfred IV, Joshua, and Jace.

A funeral mass will be held at Mary, Star of the Sea on June 6th. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. Mass services will begin at 10:30 am. A celebration of life will be at Waialae Country Club immediately after.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
